Exercise and Arthritis.
Before beginning any exercise program to help you improve mobility in your arthritic joints, you should consult your doctor and then your physiotherapist, they will advise on the correct exercises for your particular condition. There will be many physiotherapists in your area who are trained in this sort of thing.
There are many books on the subject, and it would be relatively easy to develop your own program, having consulted the doctor.
There is no doubt that exercise does benefit the arthritic joints, but the amount of exercise you can do depends on the already damaged joints being flexible enough to do some work, and also not to increase the pain levels too much.
There are some exercises that will be easier to do than others.
Swimming for example is good, because the weight is taken off the joints, and yet you can have a darn good workout. Cycling also, is quite good, even just taking a daily walk, will give untold benefits.
You know what you can do……start slowly and build up towards your goals.
I know that when I started swimming, I couldn’t even swim a length of the pool, but within weeks I was regularly doing 30 lengths in a lunch time break from work. (This is also great for your figure! And potential weight loss!)
It is important to remind you that you need to get professional help when starting your exercise regime, and after that you can build your own regime according to your ability and lifestyle.
Of course, you can further improve your mobility by dieting and eating the correct foods. This can reduce the inflammation dramatically, even to the point of being pain free and normal again. See www.arthritis-solutions.co.uk

Arthritis, diet can control your pain
Hi to all those of you with Arthritis. As you might know from my blogs, I am a fellow sufferer, but I control the disease by way of a diet. I like the idea because primarily I am out of pain, I have full use of my joints, and my body is not full of poisonous chemicals! The diet is quite strict, but after a while you get used to the restrictions, and learn that some foods do not agree with your body. ie; we sufferers somehow have become allergic to some foods, or the chemicals in some foods etc.
I enjoy my life of sport, my ability to work, and most of all to be pain free!! You do not realise how sick you are, sometimes, until you get better. Then you think to yourself, "My word, I have been really poorly for a while, and I hadn't realised it".
We have just returned from a trip to Italy and my joints are playing up a little. Probably because I have cheated on the diet. I must get back on the straight and narrow......There is no way that I want to return to my life of pain and misery! Ciao for now!

arthritis and sport
Hello all you arthritis sufferers, and welcome to Summer! We in the UK have just experienced the clock change which signifies that summer is just around the corner. However, not unusually for those of us that live here......we have snow, wind, and rain. Happy easter!
We have just returned from South Africa, and a great holiday with friends and also visiting relations. Happily my arthritis is fine! I was able to eat plenty of good healthy sea food, which is great for the diet.
I also took with me some of my wheat free biscuits, plus some all natural oat muesli. Our travelling companions thought me crazy, and in this day of luggage weight restrictions, a few kilos of breakfast fodder seemed mad, to them. To me....all important, because it enabled me to stick to my diet!
Two of us walked up Table Mountain! No mean achievement for an old arthritis cripple! It is 1087 mtrs in height, and virtually straight up! At one stage I asked our guide how many steps there were in that particular section....she riposted "3000". I was suitably demoralised at that point!
I also managed to play squash in Jo'burg, at approx 5600ft (height), so I will have some idea of what the footballers will be up against this summer, during the world cup! (sport -v-altitude)
So, plenty of activity on holiday, with plenty of walks on the deserted Plett bay beaches, and some golf thrown in, I returned thinner than before I went away! My golf was bad, but we played some really lovely courses.
I am still not taking any pain killers or anti-inflammatories for my condition.......it is controlled only via the diet. If you are reading this and suffer from this terrible disease, give yourself a chance to enjoy life again. I certainly am!

Rheumatoid Arthritis and the Right Mindset
Hi everyone, I hope that your arthritis is not troubling you too much! However, I cannot understand the mentality of some people.
I have an acqaintance who has recently developed arthritis. He is suffering quite badly, joint pain, stiffness, inability to use some of his joints because of the pain etc etc. We all know how it goes! It doesn't get much better unless the NHS prescribe you some of the new fangled drugs. And as you might have gathered I am not a fan of taking drugs, some of which have nasty side effects......so what is the answer?
I offered my friend, the diet that has "cured" my arthritis. He took it home and read through it.....then called me up and said; "Hugh, thanks for the diet, but I don't think that I can give up my beer of an evening. I will miss the pub, and my friends in the local!"
Of course, we all have a choice, it is a free world, but it baffled me slightly! I was offering him a natural remedy for his pains, and yet he still chose to stay with that pain and suffering just because he was not able to give up a few pints of beer.
The diet is not just that simple, but this was what "John" couldn't face (fictitious name).
I think that one day soon he might change his mind, as the disease progresses, and his joints become evermore useless and deformed. This has to be his choice! We will wait and see. All I know is that the diet works and within a few weeks he could be out of pain and not reliant on painkillers etc etc.
I hope that if you read this, you might consider your health worth more than the small fee that I charge for the diet. Incidentally, John had the diet free!

Arthritis Drugs
Hello again, In the UK we have just survived a nasty spell off cold, snowy weather. (I suspect that some of us are not out of the woods just yet!) But, whilst home from work, and not able to get outside I read some articles on Arthritis, and one in particular worried me a lot. It relates to deaths caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
There has been some research done by the US journal "Clinical Cornerstone". This is what I found alarming; Over 100,000 hospitalisations per year are attributed to upper gastrointestinal problems associated with prolonged use of NSAIDs. The frightening bit is that about 15% of these people die because of their problems.
These figures relate to the United States and it equates to about 16,500 deaths per year. That is pretty frightening! Anybody taking these drugs should look at alternate ways to controlling the disease.
In the UK scientists at a well known Oxford hospital claim that the risk of death with long term use of NSAIDs is approx 1 in 2000, and this equates to about 2000 deaths per year in the UK. This is about the same number of people that die in road traffic accidents each year!!
Please take a look at some of the alternatives available. You have various options open to you and I can offer help by way of a diet.
For me this was and is highly successful. I no longer take any pain killers at all (except for the odd headache). Do yourselves a favour just take a look at the diet. www.arthritis-solutions.co.uk

Arthritis and the Cold Weather
Hello to all fellow arthritis sufferers! I hope that the cold weather in the Northern hemisphere is not playing your arthritis up too much? We are having a particularly cold spell, with temperatures in the UK struggling to get above freezing, and well below zero at night. I also note that in Northern Italy that they have had some equally cold weather (around Lucca and Florence.....so not in the Alps, as one might imagine.) So what is happening to the global warming? That's another issue......my main concern is for all the people with arthritis, and that they might have the chance to rid themselves of the disease!
This is possible, it is a choice that each individual has to make, whether to be in pain and suffer, or try something different and give their bodies a chance to heal.
It is also very easy, it is a matter of changing your diets!
"You don't want to" I hear you say. Well at the end of the day it is your choice, but I can only tell you about the euphoria that I felt when I realised that I had beaten this terrible disease, and that it could be controlled. I had my life back!
For some reason, that is yet to be discovered, the body of an arthritis sufferer cannot tolerate some of the foods that most of us eat on a daily basis. It is only when these foods are cut from your diet that you will "cure" yourself!
Please for your own sakes try the diet......you really have nothing to lose.
In fact I propose that the next 20 people to contact me will be sent a copy of the diet free of charge, if they will agree to try the diet properly (you might need a strong willpower...please don't apply if you don't think that you have this attribute), and also to keep in touch with me over the first few weeks to monitor progress. I will help wherever possible and would be grateful if you would supply a testimonial to your success.

Ok that's it for now. I will update in a few weeks. Sincerely, Hugh Bird

Arthritis and the Sun
Hi....Just an update: I have just come back from Spain (well a few weeks ago), and it seemed like an opportune time, (with the cold weather taking a grip on the good old U.K.), to mention the fact that some Arthritis sufferers do suffer quite badly in the cold. This probably explains the fact why there are so many Northern Europeans flocking to the South coast of Spain, as we speak. Not only are they topping up their Vitamin D levels, but those with arthritis, and not using the Rheumatoid Arthritis Diet, are feeling much better down there in the warmth. I enjoyed my stay and played a few rounds of golf, but rather expensive. But best of all I am still doing this without the aid of any drugs of any description. I am able to lead my life to the full. Back in the U.K. golf has been a nono, the course has been too wet, and I am at the stage where I will not play in the rain. In my younger days, when I was keen, I used to go out in all weathers. At the moment I am playing squash, once a week with a young guy called Jose (He is Spanish and living in the U.K.). He must be mad! All that sunshine back home and he is here......but there is a reason. He is a student and the lucky blighter can go back to Spain anytime that he likes. However, last night he beat the pants off me! I just didn't turn up! ( A bit like the Welsh rugby side against Australia last weekend........another £130.00 down the pan! Thats' another story). Jose is about half my age, and normally we have very close games......he is just starting to get the edge, winning a few more just recently. But I view myself most fortunate that I am able to get on court with him, let alone compete! And all because ( the lady loves milk tray)......no all because of my arthtitis diet. I am lucky to have discovered the Arthritis cure using diet only! Have a good day!
